Hot days of summer bring to mind holidays of the past. Hawaii in the heat with my mother and sisters. When we were younger.
In this series of three paintings, I am exploring the pushing, scraping and pulling of the paint across the canvas.
The first painting, Sunny Sunday to You is done in gauche. The gestural mark making evokes the feeling of heat.
The second painting, Sun Bathers on the Beach is viewing the women through the waves of heat.
The third painting, A Moment perhaps captures the stillness of posing in the heat.
